Longboard fins

The fin determines how the board performs on the wave. At Lufi, we have three single fins, the 10.5" Polyvalent, and the 11" Singular and NoZeppelin, plus the 2+1 setup with an 8" Middy center fin. Ready for delivery.

How to choose a longboard fin?

Start with the fin box your board has, because it limits what will fit. Then choose based on the surfing you want: single fin for long glides and noseriding, 2+1 for more grip and tighter turns. Lufi does not make twin fins for longboards.

What is the difference between a single fin and a 2+1?

Single fin is a single central fin, between 10.5 and 11 inches on a Lufi: long glide, open arc, and it’s what supports nose riding. In the 2+1, the center fin decreases to 8 inches and two 7-inch side fins are added. The board gains grip and turns tighter, sacrificing a bit of the glide.

What is the longboard fin size?

It depends on the length of the board and the type of surfing you want to do. Lufi fins range from 7" to 11": the Middy center fin is 8", the Polyvalent single fin is 10.5", and the NoZeppelin and Singular are 11". A larger fin provides more hold and favors nose riding. A smaller fin is looser.

How do I know which fin box is mine?

Look at the slot on the bottom of the board, near the tail. If it is a long track where the fin slides and locks with a screw, it is a single fin box. If it is a short slot where the fin goes in and snaps into place, it is a plug system. If in doubt, send a photo via WhatsApp and we will check the fit before shipping.
